Can you believe we are already on week 4 in the New Testament 2019 Come, Follow Me manual? The title of this lesson is "We Have Found the Messiah." We will be studying John 1 from January 21-27. This week we get to talk about the plan of salvation. I love it! There are so many things that you can do with the plan of salvation. We have one idea but we're also excited to hear your ideas on how you will approach this week and what is working for you. Please share them with us!

Our plan this week is to watch the Bible Videos that go with this block of scripture on Sunday the 20th in the afternoon. (We should have lots of time with 2 hour church! wink wink) Often in our family we use the Bible Videos and New Testament stories because they hold the little kids' attention well. Some of our children are very young and don't read yet. We try to make sure the kids understand on their level what happened in the video we watched. In order to make sure we are still teaching from the scriptures as well, we use the excerpts from the scriptures that are suggested in the primary manual.

If this is your first time here, make sure to check out THIS POST which will give you an overview of the layout for our lessons.

Weekly Preparation:
(This list includes all the activities for all of the lesson ideas this week so it may include things you aren't planning to use. Look ahead through the lessons and plan for the ones you want to do.)
Print off the Simply Family Home Evening lesson plan for this week. You will need a flashlight, a picture of Jesus, Primary handout for this week, make the creation chart (print out the pictures, color them and arrange them in the order they were created. We did it with an arrow in the center and a metal brad so the arrow could be spun around and point to each day in order) and Plan of Salvation clipart from this post on LDS Lane. We put ours on magnet paper so they could be played with throughout the week on the fridge.
Discussion Topics:
  • Jesus lived with Heavenly Father before He was born (John 1:1-2)
  • Jesus created all things (John 1:3)
  • Jesus Christ is my light (John 1:4-9)
  • As a follower of Jesus Christ, I invite others to follow Him (John 1:35-51)
