Week FIVE here we come! New Testament 2019 Come, Follow Me: "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord" We will be studying Matthew 3; Mark 1; and Luke 3 from January 28 - February 3. The main topics we have chosen this week are baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. I can't wait to get into it so lets do just that!

Our plan this week is to watch the Bible Videos that go with this block of scripture on Sunday the 27th in the afternoon. Often in our family we use the Bible Videos and New Testament stories because they hold the little kids' attention well. Some of our children are very young and don't read yet. We try to make sure the kids understand on their level what happened in the video we watched. In order to make sure we are still teaching from the scriptures as well, we use the excerpts from the scriptures that are suggested in the primary manual.

If this is your first time here, make sure to check out THIS POST which will give you an overview of the layout for our lessons.

The lesson idea we decided to focus on for Family Home Evening this week is:
The Holy Ghost Helps Me and The Holy Ghost Can Guide Me
(Matthew 3:11, 16)

Preparation: Get a box and gather things that represent The Holy Ghost like a compass, a picture of Jesus, and a comforting blanket. Have candy or another treat for the scavenger hunt, hide the scavenger hunt cards.

Lesson:
Get out the box with the things that represent the roles of The Holy Ghost. Talk about how these things are like The Holy Ghost. He testifies of Jesus and comforts us. (John 15:26) He guides us. (2 Ne 32:5)

Activity:
The Holy Ghost Scavenger Hunt: (Find it on our activity page)
The Holy Ghost can lead us along in our life by prompting us or giving us "clues." Follow the clues around the house to find the prize!

Additional Lesson or Discussion Ideas:

I Can be Baptized as Jesus Was
Preparation: Have a picture of someone being baptized. If one or more of your kids has been baptized, a picture of them on their baptism day would be a great addition to the lesson. Print off the Primary handout for this week.
