Come, Follow Me Apr 22-28: "What Shall I Do To Inherit Eternal Life"

Hi, welcome to Simply Family Home Evening! How was your Easter? I hope it was wonderful.

Last week was our spring break and it was so nice to have the kids home and refresh a little. Now I'm ready to get back into our Come, Follow Me study! Thanks for visiting us again this week for more lesson ideas!

Come, Follow Me; Simply Family Home Evening FHE lessons: April 22-28 "What Shall I do to Inherit Eternal Life?"

This week we get to study Matthew 18; and Luke 10. I love this lesson coming on the heels of General Conference and Easter. What do I want for myself and my family more then anything? Eternal Life!!! We just heard from our Prophet and leaders and then learned about the Savior's Atonement, crucifixion and Resurrection. Now I get to talk with my family about how we return to live with Him again for all eternity? Just icing on the cake right? Let's get into it!

If this is your first time here, make sure to check out THIS POST which will give you an overview of the layout for our lessons.

The lesson idea we decided to focus on for Family Home Evening this week is:
Jesus taught me to see all people as my neighbors and love them.
Come, Follow Me; Simply Family Home Evening FHE lessons: April 22-28 "What Shall I do to Inherit Eternal Life?"

Preparation: Print out and prepare the primary handout. Pick a recipe of treats to make for the neighbors. Print out or have a copy of Bible Maps 1 Map of the Holy Land.
Song: "Help Me Dear Father To Truly Forgive" Children's Songbook pg 99
Scriptures: Luke 10:25-37
Videos:
Bible Video:
     Parable of the Good Samaritan
New Testament Stories:
     Chapter 35: The Good Samaritan
Lesson:
Watch the videos; read the scriptures or use a combination of both.
Use the Primary handout to tell the story of the Good Samaritan. Use Luke 10:30-37. When you are finished, ask the kids how they can "go and do" and take care of your own neighbors.
Adapt for older kids: Show a map of the Holy Land from the Bible. Explain to your kids that the Jews disliked the Samaritans so much that when they traveled from Jerusalem to Galilee, they would go around Samaria to avoid interacting with any Samaritans. Ask them why Jesus would use a Samaritan as an example of kindness in this parable.
