The lesson idea we decided to focus on for Family Home Evening this week is:
Heavenly Father wants all of His children to return to Him
Come, Follow Me; Simply Family Home Evening FHE lessons: May 6-12 "Rejoice With me; For I Have Found my Sheep Which was Lost"
Preparation: Print out or have pictures of a coin, a sheep, and male doll
Opening Song: : We’ll Bring The World His Truth” Children’s Song Book pg 172
Scriptures: Luke 15
Videos:
Bible Video:
     "The Prodigal Son"
New Testament Stories:
Chapter 36 "Jesus Tells Three Parables"
"The First Parable: The Lost Sheep"
"The Second Parable: The Lost Coin"
"The Third Parable: The Lost Son"
Lesson:
Watch the videos; read the scriptures or use a combination of both. Hide each object somewhere in the room. Have your kids look for them, and when they find an item, read the story or watch the video that coincides with the object they found. The scriptures are The Lost Sheep (Luke 15:4-7), The Lost Coin (Luke 15:8-10) and The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32)
Come, Follow Me; Simply Family Home Evening FHE lessons: May 6-12 "Rejoice With me; For I Have Found my Sheep Which was Lost"
Once all of the objects have been found and the stories have been read or watched, ask the kids how they would feel if they lost their favorite toy or other dear possession? What would they do to find it? How would they feel if they found it? How would they feel if they never found it?
Tell your kids that there are people who have been lost from the blessings of the gospel, and that is how Jesus and Heavenly Father feel about them. The way we feel when we found that something that was lost is how Heavenly Father and Jesus feel when we make a mistake and repent. How can we help Heavenly Father find his lost sheep on earth?
