Come, Follow Me Jun 17-Jun 23: "It Is Finished"

Hi, welcome, I am so glad that you are here. We here at Simply Family Home Evening really appreciate all our returning friends who visit us every week to see what we have put together to aid you in your New Testament Come, Follow Me study! If you are new here, I am so glad that you have found us. Welcome! We hope you find some value in what we have put together for you to help you teach your family.

Come, Follow Me; Simply Family Home Evening FHE lessons: June 16-23 "It is Finished"

This week the lesson in Come, Follow Me is titled "It is Finished." We will be studying Matthew 27; Mark 15; Luke 23; and John 19. It is a full lesson about the atonement; the Savior suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and the crucifixion. In my mind it will be a week full of appreciation of all, and I mean ALL that my Savior has done for me. I do worry it will be a little emotionally heavy for my kids but it is balanced with the gratitude we all feel for the blessings that we receive because of Jesus Christ's sacrifice. So so thankful for that wonderful gift! Let's get going!

If this is your first time here, make sure to check out THIS POST which will give you an overview of the layout for our lessons.

When all of the bricks are on the paper, draw or put a picture of a house on top of them and talk about if we learn these habits, we will have a good foundation for forgiving other people just like Jesus did.
Adapt for older kids: Play the choices game.

Lesson:
Watch the videos; read the scriptures or use a combination of both.
Read the story from the Friend and talk about it. Ask your kids what things that you as a parent help them do because they cannot do it themselves such as buy food for them to eat, drive them places, etc.
Tell your kids that is like the death and resurrection of Christ. We cannot resurrect ourselves. If Jesus Christ hadn’t come to earth and died on the cross and hadn’t been resurrected, we wouldn’t be able to either.
Show a picture of someone you love that has died. Bear your testimony about how this person, along with each of you will one day be resurrected and get to live forever.
Adapt for older children: Use the primary handout to match what others were doing in the final hours of Jesus’s life.
Activity Ideas:
Go on the Easter Scavenger hunt. We mentioned this back in our Easter lesson but I know that was such a FULL week! This is a really fun activity if you didn't have a chance to do it back then.
