Come, Follow Me Aug 12-18: "Overcome Evil With Good"

Come, Follow Me; Simply Family Home Evening FHE lessons: Aug 12-18 "Overcome Evil with Good"

Hello there! Welcome to Simply Family Home Evening, or welcome back if you have been here before. Each week we try to bring you lesson ideas to teach the Come, Follow Me lessons in your home. We use the Come, Follow Me - for Primary manual as our resource making the lessons more applicable to young children. We hope you find something useful for your families here!

The lesson title for this week in Come, Follow Me is "Overcome Evil With Good" and we will be studying Romans 7-16. It just struck me again, this week, how very amazing it is that we can say "we are studying" without having to clarify or condition that statement. We have definitely had our weeks this year where we haven't been super on top of lessons and have even missed a week because of vacations or other circumstances in our home. BUT when we got back to it the next week we were still studying exactly what every other Latter-Day Saint household was studying that week! I love it! Anyway, on with the Simply Family Home Evening lesson ideas for Come, Follow Me for this week. After all, that's why you're here right?

Simply Family Home Evening Lesson Plan

The lesson idea we decided to focus on for Family Home Evening this week is:
Faith comes by hearing the word of God

Come, Follow Me; Simply Family Home Evening FHE lessons: Aug 12-18 "Overcome Evil with Good"
Preparation:. Print out the primary handout (one copy for you to use in the lesson and one for each child), color and cut out the smaller pictures. Put them on glasses and fill the glasses with water. Get an empty pitcher and tape the word faith on it.
Scriptures: Romans 10:17
Opening Song: My Heavenly Father Loves Me” Children’s Song Book pg 228
Lesson:
Read Romans 10:17
Have a few glasses of water and an empty pitcher. Ask the kids different ways they hear the world of God. (Use the pictures as a guide)
Each time they name a way we hear the word of God, pour the water in that glass into the empty pitcher. Each time they hear the word of God, the pitcher gets fuller, or their faith grows.
Adapt for older children:
Help your kids memorize this scripture!

Romans 10:17: ____________ cometh by _________, and _____________ by the _____________ of __________________.
Activity Ideas:
Color, cut out and assemble the primary handout.

Additional Lesson or Discussion ideas:
