Welcome back to Simply Family Home Evening! We are so happy to bring you another week of lesson ideas. Are these useful in your family's study of Come, Follow Me? We'd love to hear how you use them and what you like best. As fall and winter are just around the corner we are looking forward to what Simply Family Home Evening will look like next year. Simply Family Home Evening Lesson Plan
The lesson idea we decided to focus on for Family Home Evening this week is:
I have spiritual gifts

Come, Follow Me; Simply Family Home Evening FHE lessons: Aug 26 - Sept 1 "Ye are the Body of Christ"
Preparation: Write down a spiritual gift you recognize in each of your kids and wrap them up in separate little boxes.
Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 12:4, 7–12, 31; 13:1–8
Opening Song: “I’m Trying to be Like Jesus” Children’s Songbook pg 78
Lesson:
Read 1 Corinthians 12:4, 7
Give each child a box with a spiritual gift that they have in it. Talk about ways they can use the spiritual gifts that Heavenly Father has given each of them to bless other people
Adapt for older children: Read the remaining scriptures and read the talk from Elder Ashton “There Are Many Gifts

Activity Idea:

Play chutes and ladders or another board or card game together as a family

Additional Lesson or Discussion Ideas:

Heavenly Father will help me make righteous choices

Come, Follow Me; Simply Family Home Evening FHE lessons: Aug 26 - Sept 1 "Ye are the Body of Christ"

Preparation: Have a coin or a button. Print pictures that represent things that help us make good choices. (Scriptures, prophets, parents, church leaders, temples, prayer etc.)
Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 10:13
Lesson:
Read 1 Corinthians 10:13

Have a button or a coin and put it in one of your hands. Have the kids line up facing you with some distance between you and them. (Like you would to play red light/green light) Have each kid guess what hand it is in. If they guess right, they can move one step forward. If they guess wrong, they stay where they are. The first one to reach you is the winner.

Ask your kids if guessing is a good way to make our choices. Use the pictures to talk about the ways that Heavenly Father has given us to help us make good choices and resist temptation.

Activity Ideas:
Play the Choices game linked on our Activity Page.

Bible Video:
     Charity Never Faileth
     “Pass it on”
Lesson:
Read 1 Corinthians 13:8
Have the kids repeat “Charity is the pure love of Christ” until they can say it by themselves
Watch the videos.

Review some of the stories we have learned this year so far about ways the Savior served people. Ask each child how they can serve someone else this week. Right it down and put where they can see it to remind them how they can serve others this week.
