Come, Follow Me Mar 9-15: Jacob 1-4
Preparation: Have some space where the kids can do some jumping jacks/run in place/do push-ups or crunches etc. Sand, rocks a plastic toy house or one made out of blocks or Legos, a strainer. Cut out pieces of paper to look like rocks and tape them up on the wall under a picture of a house.
Opening Song: “The Wise Man and the Foolish Man,” pg 281
Scriptures: Jacob 4:6
Lesson:
Have the kids do 10 jumping jacks and run in place for 15 seconds. How do
we strengthen our bodies? Why do we want to have strong bodies?
Read Jacob 4:6. Explain that
Jacob was living in a time with a lot of wicked people all around him. What
does it mean to have our “faith become unshaken”? How can we strengthen our
faith in Jesus Christ?
Put a house on top of a pile of sand in a strainer. (Hopefully it is warm enough that you can be outside. If not then make sure you have a container to catch all the sand 😉) What happens when it
rains?
Get a bunch of rocks in the same strainer. What happens when it rains?
Get a bunch of rocks in the same strainer. What happens when it rains?
Have your kids list ways they can strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ
and write them on the rocks under the house. Leave this up all week long and talk about what we can do each day to keep strengthening our faith.
Activity Ideas:
Write notes to your local church leaders telling them how much and why you appreciate
them and deliver them with some treats.
